In Alpharetta, Georgia, a tiny dachshund with a tumor almost as big as she is, was rescued this afternoon by Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. Her picture speaks for itself, but she remains sweet and hopeful that humans will help her.

The seven-year-old dog, dubbed Kumu is bravely facing her fate, and although she doesn’t know why she has such a huge growth growing out from her chest, or the tragic news she might have cancer, perhaps she brings a message with her; loving each day to the fullest and trusting in the kindness of humans are the sunniest days of our lives.

The name “Kumu” means cloud; as if when you look up at the clouds there are many images we see. Today, there was a little dog running without a tumor. And along with “Kumu” meaning love – isn’t love incontrovertible anyway?

Why take a dog that might die? That might have cancer? Why spend all the money to try and fix her?? All of you probably have a thought on this. What do you see when you look in her eyes? We see a dog with a tumor that might not be cancer. We see a dog that might have so many more years ahead of her. Years to be adored by the right human, a human that will get her medical help when needed. We see a dog that wants to curl up on a lap in front of a fire. We see a dog with hope in her eyes. She wants to try and we want to try with her.
