At the Speranza Animal Rescue, volunteers rushed to an abandoned home on Thursday morning after being notified by Pennsylvania State Police about seven dogs locked inside. When rescuers reached the property, they could hear a lot of barking coming from inside of the vacant home; barking indicative of being more of excitement after having been held prisoner inside of the home alone for so many weeks.

As authorities opened the door, the excited dogs tried to run past everyone. One of the adult males jumped on the rescuer in excitement and hugged her tightly – almost as if begging to be released from having been held inside for so long.

Sadly, one dog was found deceased lying outside. The other dogs were given water and drank for prolonged periods of times seemingly thankful for the rescue efforts. The dogs were all leashed and loaded in the police car and brought to the Speranza Animal Rescue. They will now get the care they need.

Welcome Happy, Sleepy, Grumpy, Doc, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey.
