In Charleston, South Carolina, the Charleston Animal Society is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved in the shooting of three dogs in Orangeburg County in the last month. The dogs were rescued by the Orangeburg County Animal Control & Shelter.
According to the rescue organization’s Facebook page, the first canine victim, Sampson was shot in the face at point-blank range on January 25, 2022. He was found on the side of the road. His left eye had to be removed, but he continues to recover after having been treated at Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty.
The second victim, Marshall, a 10-month-old boxer mix, was shot on February 5 while on a neighbor’s porch. He required a five-hour leg amputation, and is recovering in a foster home.
On Friday, February 18, Fred was discovered lying in a ditch. It is believed he had been there for several days. He suffered from two gunshot wounds; bilateral amputation has been recommended as both of his legs were severely damaged by the gunshot wounds.
Sweet Fred is walking on his two front legs because both back legs are injured. He laid in a ditch for a few days before anyone called to report him. We have to get him to CVETS Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty to save his life. Funds are desperately needed.
