Nearly two dozen puppies have a new lease on life after being rescued from dismal conditions at a hoarder’s home in Columbus, North Carolina. Last week, the Foothills Humane Society expressed sadness for the conditions the puppies had been enduring before being rescued, writing:

Shock, heartbreak, and anger. Those are some of the emotions our staff experienced yesterday when 23 puppies came into our care after being rescued from a hoarding situation in Columbus.

The animal welfare agency outlined the various maladies the puppies are suffering from, writing:

When Polk County Animal Control officers arrived on the scene, the puppies were found living in poor living conditions and malnourished. Some of the puppies were injured with receding eyes, hunched backs, umbilical hernias, and a potential broken leg.

The puppies are safe now and the shelter will ensure that they receive the care that they need to thrive. If you are interested in helping, information to do so has been provided:

These puppies now have hope and a bright future. However, we desperately need your help to provide for them. Please consider making a monetary donation to support their care. All 23 puppies will need to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped before adoption. Donations can be made in a variety of ways:
