At Clearwater Beach, a 20-year-old man was arrested on Monday after police alleged he kicked a puppy in the face because he was upset that the pup had eaten food that didn’t belong to him.

According to the Clearwater Police, Noah Counts faces charges of animal cruelty. Witnesses also saw Counts drag the three-month-old puppy by its leash and throw it over a wall. After officers arrived, they found a charcoal grill which is illegal at the beach and two opened alcohol containers which are also illegal as per the city ordinance. Dogs are not allowed on the beaches in Clearwater.

The puppy was observed limping, and Counts admitted to kicking the puppy, but said he did it on the pup’s rear end, and also denied throwing the puppy over the wall, contending he “placed” the puppy over the wall.

Counts was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.

No further information as to where the puppy was placed has been made available.
