Update 2/9/2022: Mila has been adopted!

Tomorrow, February 8, a six-year-old dog named Mila is set to be put down at the Fort Worth Animal Care and Control facility in Texas. The dog’s heartbreaking situation was shared on social media on Monday morning in a post that details Mila’s fate:

after 244 days waiting at the shelter, tomorrow she will either leave through the front or back doors of the shelter.. depends on if one person will step up and save her life.
🆘LAST CALL🆘 Mila is set to be euthanized Tuesday, 2/8. Must be tagged for rescue, foster, or adoption by tomorrow at 8 am.

Mila was picked up as a stray in June, and since that time, her days behind bars have resulted in her deteriorating both physically and emotionally. The Facebook post outlines the devastating impact being stuck in the shelter environment has taken on this homeless dog:

She’s last call for kennel neurosis, declining in care. Animal has lost weight in care, is drooling excessively (soaked chest) and is licking kennel door / walls. She has been started on trazodone with no noticeable improvement.

Mila had one break from the animal control facility, and during that time, her true personality shined through:

Thankfully she spent time in a foster home for a slumber party so we know what an amazing girl she is outside the shelter environment. She is so sweet, does better with male dogs, house trained, loves human affection! She loves treats, exploring outside and does great in the car. I think she would do great around kids, but probably no cats. She would probably be dog friendly with proper and slow introductions!

Mila is heartbroken and she needs help fast. Please share Mila’s information before she becomes a forgotten statistic.
