In Des Moines, Iowa, a one-year-old loveable pup was abandoned by her owner and left tied to a pole outside of the Des Moines International Airport. The distressing incident occurred on Thursday after the dog was not allowed to board a cross country flight with her owner, because the owner did not have a kennel.

According to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa,(ARL) the airline staff stated the owner of the dog left the airport with the dog, but returned soon after alone and boarded for the flight. The dog, now dubbed “Allie,” was later found tied up outdoors to a pole.

The Des Moines Police Department is investigating the possible case of abandonment. The person who left the dog tied up has been identified outside of Iowa.

Allie is incredibly sweet and is now safe in our care and loving attention from our staff team. The incident is still an active investigation, and more details will be released as they are able to be shared. This pup is just one of the 10,000+ pets the ARL has cared for already this year.
