Patience is a virtue; just ask Melvin, an almost four-year-old dog who waited 667 days until he was adopted. Melvin is a pit bull, and the stigma associated with the breed makes it harder to find adoptive families, but this boy stood by his lovely disposition at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) until his new family found him.
In January, Melvin was transferred from the care of the Long Island Animal Care and sent to the Los Angeles rescue because of their partnership.
Woof! I’m Melvin. I’m a handsome and loveable boy who is waiting patiently for my perfect family. I’m super smart, love to train and learn new things — especially with treats! I’m adventurous and love to explore. Daily walks and hikes are fun for me. I love to play with toys and also just kick back and relax. I’m currently in foster care and enjoy the routine, being part of a family, and living in a cozy home. I’ve had hours and hours of one-on-one training with the spcaLA Training team and I know all the basic commands, some advanced ones, and walk nicely on leash. While I am just about perfect, there are a few things I desire: an adult home or one with kids 12+, no cats or small dogs, best as only pet in the home (though I often get along with dogs of my size and temperament that I meet). If you are looking for a sweet and loyal friend, adopt me today!”
