In Canton, North Carolina, a dog gave birth to a lime-green puppy last Friday. The puppy’s mother, Gypsy, a white shepherd, delivered eight puppies. The dog’s labor had been going along smoothly for three hours- that is until the fourth puppy emerged covered in lime-green fur.
According to The Citizens Times, the dog’s owner, Shana Stamey started “freaking out, but everybody was healthy.” Suzanne Cianciulli, the manager for Junaluska Animal Hospital in Waynesville, said the meconium liquid from Gypsy’s stomach stained the puppy’s fur in utero.
Of course, the puppy’s name is Hulk – (surely you didn’t think he would be named anything else) and one week later, his fur is looking more like Easter peeps yellow than neon green. With regular baths and the constnat licking from Gypsy, Hulk’s color continues to fade.
Born at 15.6 ounces, Hulk now weighs in at one-pound, eight ounces at six days old. That’s about an ounce and a half a day; as if his birth color wasn’t enough of a reason to name him Hulk.
And so Hulk already has a list of interested people who are interested in adopting him. Shana plans to put all of the pups up for adoption when they are eight-weeks-old, and if they are not adopted – they will be added to the family.
