Suffolk County SPCA charges woman for extreme neglect to senior dog

At the Suffolk County SPCA, detectives charged a Brentwood woman with neglecting her senior dog. On Tuesday, Crystal Booker was charged with one count of failure to provide proper sustenance including food, water and veterinary care to her dog name Grumpy.

Booker has been alleged to leaving Grumpy in the direct sun with no shelter or water. Authorities removed Grumpy and transported him to the Brookhaven Shelter.

“The dog was left for several days in the yard of a Middle Island home, unable to stand or walk, with open sores and untreated infections,” the humane organization wrote on their Facebook page.

Chief Gross has continued to publicly state the county will not tolerate animal cruelty.

Booker is scheduled to appear in court in October.
