A Houston man has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after authorities contend he shot and killed a young puppy on Wednesday afternoon a 14-year-old girl had been walking. Investigators said the youngster had been walking the dog on a leash to an empty lot near her home.
According to AbcNews13, McCoy Holcomb, 72, walked up to the child and mumbled something about being on his grass. He then pulled out a gun and shot the puppy four times. Holcomb told the child to “go get the other dogs” and he would “finish them off too.”
The dog named Lopso had been a part of the family since birth. The teen is devastated and said she has had problems with Holcomb in the past and made it a special point not to go anywhere near the man’s lawn. Where Lopso was being walked was not on Holcomb’s property, the teen stated.
Holcomb faces felony cruelty charges and bond was set at $50,000.
Rest in peace Lopso.
