Volunteers have tears in their eyes as they watch Sophie on the brink of shutting down. The healthy nine-year-old loyal shepherd still waits and watches in the corner of the playground at the busy Downey Animal Care Center in Los Angeles for her owner to return, but sadly that is not going to happen. Sophie was surrendered because her former owners had more pets than the city ordinance permitted. Sadly, Sophie was expendable.
“She is a drop dead gorgeous GSD in the Downey shelter that did not want to leave the corner of the play area. In her mind she is waiting for her former owner to come save her but that’s not happening,” a volunteer wrote. “What she has to look forward to is more of the scary shelter or someone magnificent to come and save her. She is a fine pet and a great companion.”
Sophie has had thousands of shares, yet no one has come to her rescue. I have been at the shelter since Sep 28, 2017.” For more information about this animal, call Los Angeles County Animal Control – Downey at (562) 940-6898. Sophie’s status is now listed as “urgent.” Share her story with friends, approved rescue organizations, family and social media contacts. Isn’t it time this beautiful dog found a wonderful, loving home? You can help by taking a moment and sending this to a few friends and asking them to do the same.
