In Fulton, Georgia, an eight-month-old nearly decapitated puppy was surrendered to the shelter on Friday with a wire collar so embedded into the dog’s neck, veterinarians weren’t even sure he would survive surgery. One can only imagine the young dog’s unimaginable suffering as the metal dug deeper and deeper into his flesh.
According to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, the torture of the dog had been intentional. Everyday the owner watched, as the puppy named Roger, slowly and painfully almost strangled in a torturous death. Had it not been for a Good Samaritan who reported the puppy’s condition to Animal Control, Roger’s life would have soon ended. Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of the rescue organization, updated advocates as the critically injured puppy was rushed to their partner veterinarian on Friday night for emergency surgery:
“This is the worst embedded collar we have ever experienced at our rescue to date
Most disturbing is that Roger was OWNED !!!!
THIS ACT WAS INTENTIONAL!
The owner watched day after day as the collar around Rogers neck got tighter and tighter ,choking him to near death
By the grace of God, Animal Control was informed of the cruelty being inflicted upon Roger and removed Roger and his mother from the property. We have also rescued his Mom, and we will post her separately.”
Animal cruelty charges are being filed against the owner. Roger’s recovery will take months. To help with this puppy’s expenses, donations can be made via rescuedogsrocknyc.org. PAYPAL: Donate@rescuedogsrocknyc.org.
