In Noida, located in Uttar Pradesh, India, a video clip surfaced on social media of a man described as a middle-aged drunk choking a stray dog to death by pressing down on the dog’s neck with his foot. The 18-second video showed the man smiling and his unsteady gait suggested he was inebriated.
According to the Hindustan Times, the as yet unidentified man believed to be in his 40s was dressed in a traffic marshal’s uniform. The disturbing incident occurred on Friday evening near Sadarpur Bazar in Sector 45. The passerby who shot the video stated the culprit stood with his feet pressing into the dog’s neck and mouth for an hour and only left after the dog had died as he pressed the dog to the ground while holding its hind legs with another foot.
Bystanders tried to intervene and made several appeals to the man to let the dog go, but the man wouldn’t budge. Sadly, no one came to the dog’s rescue.
“The man in question is an ex-army person and voluntarily worked as a traffic marshal along with Gautam Budh Nagar police in Noida. He stood on the dog with his feet making the animal immovable. When people asked to leave the dog he quarrelled with them and did not move. He was adamant to kill the animal, as it barked at him,” stated an eyewitness.
Authorities at Sector 39 police station stated they are investigating and have launched a search for the man. They are also ascertaining the authenticity of the video.
“We will identify and arrest the accused if the video is found to be genuine,” stated Ajay Kumar Singh of the SHO, Sector 39 police department.
Rest in peace sweet dog. We are sorry no one came to help you.
