At the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, an emaciated stray dog begins his long road to recovery. He was found behind the Walmart in Branford late last week; sunburnt, dehydrated and scared and had likely been left outdoors for quite some time for his face and paws to have suffered burns.
“And one of the saddest things ( if that wasn’t enough ) is his eyes appear burnt . We are not sure if it is from sun exposure, lack of water and care, or a combination of both,” the rescue posted.
It had been Good Samaritans who found him and took the time to establish a relationship with him. And with trusting eyes, the dog allowed one kind person to use their belt as a leash. The dog was scared, but very friendly.
Now named Justice, the gray and white dog is not neutered, weighs about 25 pounds and has no collar or microchip. The veterinarian gave him a body condition score of a 2 . His bloodwork is showing inflammation, liver issues and he has diarrhea; all possibly caused from being left out in the sun and not being fed or given water .
If he looks familiar or you know who owned him please call 203-315-4125. We do not know how long his recovery will be or what he will need yet but we are accepting donations to help him at https://www.branford-ct.gov/depar…/animal-shelter/donation
Let’s hope Justice can find some justice too.
