At the Monmouth County SPCA, three-pound Firefox continues to improve. Just a week ago, he had been abandoned on the side of a road in Marlboro, New Jersey; he had been left in a crate and was not able to walk.

Firefox was discarded like trash, unable to walk and skeletal from starvation. The canine was immediately rushed into emergency care, where he survived his first night. Animal care officials reported that his ‘blood sugar levels were [four times] the normal limit from pure trauma’…

When discovered, veterinarians rated his frail and emaciated body condition score as 1/9 – the lowest rating just short of dying. Firefox is still anemic, but he has gained 20% of his body weight in less than a week.

This tiny fighter has been receiving physical therapy and laser treatments. His prognosis looks promising.

If you would like to donate, please contact the Monmouth County SPCA in Eatontown New Jersey at 732 542 0040.

Anyone with information on who abandoned this dog on the side of the road can contact the Marlboro Police Department at 732 536 0100.

Whoever is responsible for dumping this poor dog needs to be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and then some.
