An extremely sweet pooch named Pixel will be celebrating his first birthday next week at the RSPCA WA instead of in his new home. The staff and volunteers had been exuberant after he was adopted by a family who had spent time at the shelter with the dog getting to know him; including discussions about his three-legged mobility and his subsequent care.
Now one would have thought the multiple visits and the discussions about Pixel’s care would have allayed any concerns with her new family, but only one day after Pixel had been adopted, his new family returned him with concerns that his three-legged status was “cruel.” Mind you, Pixel has completely recovered and except for the way he walks to compensate the loss of one leg and medication he takes to keep him perfect, he’s an active and playful pooch.

Pixel isn’t just missing a leg… he’s missing his person.
Pixel arrived at the shelter last November after he had been involved in a car accident, and the veterinarian hospital had tried their best to save his injured leg, however the damage was too severe.
His previous owner surrendered him because they were unable to afford the vet care required for his injuries.

He waited 145 days for a home — I just hope he doesn’t have to wait that long again.
Pixel prefers a home with older children and another friendly dog to help his self-confidence. His profile can be found here.
