Meet Tavi aka Octavia; this tiny puppy was discovered earlier this week at a construction site in Mobile, Alabama with disfiguring injuries has been making an amazing recovery at Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue.

It had been a construction worker who found the puppy near Navco Road and South Octavia Drive.

The puppy was taken to the City of Mobile Animal Services where Robert Bryant, the director of the organization, described the puppy’s heartbreaking injuries. The puppy’s ears had been cut off extremely close to her head, and according to veterinarians caring for her, the procedure had been performed without any medical training or sedation.

In addition, she had a wire wrapped around her neck; the extent of her additional internal and external damage continues to be monitored, although she has been making progress.

Octavia will now be known as Tavi, as she will be called in foster. Check out her video playing with her new friend:

Local authorities continue to pursue leads to identify the person responsible for what they have labeled a case of “intentional torture”.
