In a heartwarming story, a Los Angeles man named Shelton was reunited with his Boston terrier Baeya (aka Béa’s) on March 31, 2026 after three long years. Shelton had been loading up some items in his car and went back inside of the house for a moment. When he returned, Béa had been stolen from his front porch.
Shelton immediately initiated a tireless search and even launched a business that used his dog’s face as a logo in order to keep her story in the news. Despite Shelton’s best efforts, the trail went cold, and he admitted he had lost hope of ever finding his beloved pal.
Last week, at Wags and Walks, Béa had been picked up as a stray by the local animal control. It had been Wags and Walks who had rescued her. The dog had not been microchipped so there had been no way the nonprofit organization could have known about her history.
Shortly after she arrived at the rescue, she was listed for adoption under the name “Kit.” She instantly attracted a would-be adopter, and that Sunday, she was scheduled for a “meet and greet” however the family cancelled the appointment. Since she was still available, the next day, the rescue posted her photo on their Instagram page.
Shelton recognized his beloved dog; they had rescued Béa.

Arrangements were made for the two to be reunited. Although Béa seemed a bit confused when Shelton arrived at the Wags and Walks Adoption Center in Sawtelle, she did respond to her name. Whoever had her for the last three years had taken care of her, but dogs belong with their rightful families.

her memory returned once they arrived home; she reportedly walked straight to Shelton’s apartment and headed for her old bed as if no time had passed
Béa is now safely at home with Shelton.
Béa is now safely at home with Shelton. She remembered where she lived and has even been responding to some old commands she had learned. Congratulations for Béa and Shelton.
If you’re still missing your best four-legged friend that was stolen or lost, please don’t give up. Keep checking social media. Keep checking the shelters and the rescues, and please make sure to microchip your pets – so many families have been reunited because of that tiny microchip.
