In Hurricane, Utah, someone firing off illegal fireworks this past week should be aware of the panic and life threatening situation he caused a dog in the area. The Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue 42B responded to the plight of a black Labrador retriever named Penny, who had tried to run away after hearing the deafening noises.

Penny had been fleeing from the loud noises of the illegal fireworks when she got stuck in between two posts of a metal fence.

Fortunately, crews arrived quickly:

Thankfully, crews were able to safely free the dog and it was not injured,” Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue posted on social media.

The Animal Control Officer, Jen Jarvis thanked the firefighters stating she would not have been able to help the dog like they did and free her.

Neighborhood residents also stated on social media how their dogs had been frightened by the unexpected and obviously illegal fireworks. No doubt, people should be aware of the dangers of fireworks – both for humans and their pets.
