As Christmas parties continued in full celebratory swing, a good Samaritan from Okmulgee, Oklahoma witnessed a disturbing sight – a man dragging a puppy down a sidewalk.

Determined to make sure the puppy would no longer suffer from the apparent abuse and cruelty, the woman called law enforcement. Police responded quickly and arrested Avion Williamson, who already had an outstanding warrant, and charged him with felony animal cruelty.

The puppy was taken to the shelter where his injuries were considered too extensive to treat, and the recommendation followed for humane euthanasia. Instead, the Oklahoma Pet Collective Society (OPCS), a local nonprofit rescue, took custody of the puppy dubbed Noah. X-rays revealed that both of Noah’s back legs had been broken. The imaging also showed some concerning “fuzzy” areas around the bones that could indicate possible bone infections in both legs. Because of this, Noah had to be sedated in order to aspirate the fluid from his knees and test for infection.

Noah’s story quickly went viral as the upsetting photos of the puppy being dragged by his neck went viral. Most of the posts thanked the Okmulgee Police Department for their immediate response to the complaints and the quick apprehension of the man alleged to have been seen dragging the defenseless puppy.

Noah was likely saved from more abuse because area residents reported the suspected animal abuse. If you see something, say something.

Noah is currently recovering in a foster home with Tania Crawford.
The Oklahoma Pet Collective Society is asking the community to contact Okmulgee County District Attorney Carol Iski to make sure the animal abuse charges remain and are not reduced. The suspect’s next court date is scheduled for January 22, 2026.
