At the end of November 2025, Teenie was found in a dumpster in the St. Louis area. She had multiple open wounds, and her skin had been in such terrible condition, her coat had nearly all fallen out. She was emaciated, frightened and needed help.
She was just so tiny and unable to defend herself.

And that’s where Teenie story of healing and love began. Stray Rescue of St. Louis set Teenie up with a wonderful foster home, and the once emaciated pup started to flourish.

In just a few short weeks, Teenie had gained enough weight she had already outgrown her first collar and her onesie previously used to keep her warm.

Since being rescued, Teenie has experienced lots of “firsts” during her time with her foster family. Even flushing the toilet once made her fearful. It’s difficult to even imagine how she used to live.

I don’t believe she’s ever truly been a pet, because she can’t get enough belly rubs…
Teenie has been learning to walk on a leash which also feels as if she had never experienced that before either. Her foster family takes her on car rides, and although it’s confusing for her, she gets very excited.
In another surprising “first” her foster mom had turned on the television, and Teenie searched the entire house looking for the voices.

Teenie is described as AMAZING with little kids, other dogs and cats. Unfortunately, she does not like strangers which is something her foster family continues to work on. Who can blame her? She does have some separation anxiety, but she is almost housetrained and is such a great girl despite what she has likely experienced in her sad past.

She is four years old and weighs 15 pounds.
But here she is now! Happy, confident, healthy, beautiful! And ready for her forever family! …She’s full of energy and loves to play. Her foster family says she does struggle with separation anxiety, so she’s looking for a home that will help her with this. After what she’s been through, she just wants that security and safety. We get it!
