May we introduce you to Seth? He is a small white rescue dog from Bulgaria who disappeared after spending only one night at his new home in St. Ouen, located in the northern suburbs of Paris, France.

The small dog with the short legs had jumped over a four-foot fence.

Everyone was worried how the little dog would be able to survive on his own in an area he had been unfamiliar with and his inability to hunt and forage, Multiple sightings of the dog wandering in the area surfaced, and fortunately the team at the Lost Dogs in Jersey (Channel Islands) Facebook group got involved.

A member of the search team, Gail Bennie enlisted the help of local veterinarians, government officials, police and the local news media. She and her team also obtained cameras, cages and treats from local businesses.

Seth appeared to be circling out from his “home base” mapping out his area and would return to sleep every night in the neighbor’s garden. He would then rush over to his owner’s driveway to eat where she had left food for him.

When Seth was not being chased, called or approached, he appeared relaxed.

And so it was time for something really appealing to capture Seth. Even though he had been offered lots of dog treats, nothing seemed to have given the shy pooch any inclination to want to be captured.

Gail Bernie decided to use a new plan, and this one involved the best smells…

I ended up roasting Seth a free-range organic chicken because I knew it had to be the best, and it needed to have that smell.

I took it wrapped up warm in tinfoil and then poured the juices into a flask which I’d preheated with boiling water, just to keep it really succulent and juicy.

It worked, and not long after, Seth had been returned to his home after 20 days, and without hesitation jumped on the couch for a well deserved puppy nap.

We’re all guessing Seth’s new family will have to build higher walls and watch this little escape artist more carefully.
