A six-week-old kitten named Elmer has a story to tell. Recently, it had been a Good Samaritan who brought Elmer to the Humane Society of North Texas, after finding him stuck in a bucket of industrial adhesive. The tiny survivor was covered from ear to tail; the thick substance precluded him from eating, drinking or caring for himself.

When he arrived he was severely dehydrated and in need of life saving treatment.
The medical team immediately got to work. For hours, staff carefully and continuously used canola oil and gentle hands-on care to slowly dissolve and remove the adhesive, working methodically to keep Elmer stable and as comfortable as possible.

For the past two weeks, Elmer has been regaining his strength and acting more like a playful kitten daily.
In his most recent update, the rescue organization announced Elmer was ready to move onto the next chapter of his life.

One of the kitten’s fosters, who first stepped in to care for him when Elmer was first being slowly cleaned of the sticky glue, had expressed an interest in adopting him. The kind volunteer had recently lost her husband, and she shared how empty and quiet the house had been since his death; her other cats are quite independent.

After she met Elmer, he brought ” a sense of comfort, joy and connection she had not felt since her husband’s passing.

…the bond between the two was undeniable. We are honored to share that she has been selected as Elmer’s adopter, giving this globally known kitten the loving home he was always meant to have.
