In Maysville, Kentucky, a very sweet dog repeatedly returned to the Maysville Cemetery in Kentucky, quietly keeping vigil alongside of a gravestone which read Kenneth Bramel, 1945 – 2025.
No one knows where the dog came from; there was no owner in sight, but daily the pup stayed beside the stone and waited.
Mason County Animal Control Officer Rick had been informed about the dog and would bring the dog food every day, slowly trying to gain the timid dog’s trust.
The dog has since been caught and is currently at the Mason County Animal Shelter.
And now, the dog is safe, he’s been caught and is currently at the Mason County Animal Shelter, where he’s being cared for. Yet the dog’s life remains a mystery. Did the dog belong to Kenneth whose stone, according to the funeral home, was just placed over the deceased man’s grave a few weeks prior?
There is little doubt the dog is mourning, but for whom? Maybe the dog’s story is as simple as he just likes the stone?
According to the shelter’s Facebook page, a woman posted she was Ken’s niece:
That’s my uncle’s grave. He was a very kind man that was born in Maysville but lived most of his life in Lexington. He did not own a dog but I love that this pup finds comfort by him
Commenters do have theories, including the dog lives close by and has a family, but he’s now at the shelter and is being well cared for until he might very well be reclaimed by his family or made available for adoption. Maybe he needs the right person to mend his broken heart?
