Cane Corso puppy trapped between concrete walls as rising water risked his life rescued just in time

One very lucky puppy has the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control and fire departments to thank for saving his life on New Year’s Day. Somehow, the Cane Corso became trapped between two cinder block walls and had been unable to move. Meanwhile the pouring rain presented a life or death consequence as the rising water put his life at risk.

Nine-month-old Sky had been trapped for hours in between the two block walks.

When Animal Control Officer Chloe Chavez arrived at the scene after the dog’s owner called in for emergency help, other animal care officers – James Williams, Linda Mejia, vet tech Ricki Serna along with the Los Angeles Fire Stations 134 and 33, arrived to help the dog named Sky.

The frightened dog was sedated which enabled firefighters to use inflatable air bags to enlarge the narrow space where the dog had been tightly wedged. Three hours later, Sky was finally freed.

The owner surrendered Sky after learning the dog would have to be neutered, and Sky is now at the Lancaster Care Center under observation. Check the website with his Animal ID for updates on whether he’ll be available for adoption or to rescue groups depending on his condition.
