What could be more heartless than to steal a family’s six-week-old bully puppy from its home while committing a burglary? In Memphis, Tennessee, the police are appealing to the community for help finding the burglars who stole the pup along with several electronics and other valuables.

It had been on January 2 when the residents from a Northeast Memphis apartment in the 1900 block of Wall Street were robbed. Not only did the thieves steal the puppy, they also got away with two play stations, a television, computer, jewelry and other clothing. In addition, two hand guns were stolen.
Pet thefts have been on the rise with reports by the American Kennel Club stating there has been a 20% increase. The reason driving the heartless pet thefts are of course – financial gain. There remains a high demand for pets, particularly expensive and popular purebred dogs creating a black market where buyers can purchase these dogs for significant profit and for breeding purposes.
Among the most popular dogs stolen are French bulldogs, German shepherds, Labrador retrievers and specific bully breeds.
