Heartbreaking neglect: L.A. animal shelter gives ‘Humphrey’ makeover

Spread the love

While we try our best to help dogs find loving homes out of local shelters, sometimes being brought to a shelter for help is by far the best situation for a dog. Meet Humphrey – who would have known to look at him when he first arrived at the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Downey, as being a Standard Poodle?

It had been on January 7 when Humphrey arrived, and it wasn’t long after, that the staff and volunteers went to work to help this boy feel better. When he first entered the shelter, he could barely walk; his skin was raw from parasites, and the matting pulled on his body so hard, every time he took a step, it just hurt so badly.

And with some good grooming clippers, a lot of love and kindness and surely a positive path to finding a loving home, may we present Humphrey’s makeover.

ID #A5748090

Please note there has been some discrepancy in the dog’s age. In one description, Humphrey was stated to be only 12-months old. In a follow-up adoption listing, the dog was estimated to be five years of age. No information has been added as to Humphrey’s disposition or behavior. Please contact the shelter.

Please share this boy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
