One week ago, at the Pennsylvania SPCA, Pillsbury arrived in heartbreaking condition. The small black, tan and white pup had been found alone in a warehouse. He was bleeding, covered in wounds and softly whining in pain.

A kind stranger who worked nearby spotted the pup dubbed Pillsbury, and without hesitation called out for help. Pillsbury was quickly rushed to the organization’s emergency care facility.

When our veterinary team examined him, the reality was hard to take. His body was covered in what appeared to be bite wounds, and he was trembling. He was scared, hurting and unsure of what was happening.
Veterinarians cleaned and treated his wounds, gave him pain medication, and made sure he finally had a warm, safe place to rest.

Over the next few days, as the staff waited through his stray hold, it was hoped his family would have come forward looking for Pillsbury, but no one ever called or arrived. It was as if Pillsbury had been watching for his “person” who obviously never arrived.
Pillsbury continues to recover in the shelter hospital; he is slowly healing from both the visible and invisible wounds left behind.
Despite everything he’s been through, there’s still hope in his eyes, as if he still believes things can get better. And they will. When he’s fully healed, Pillsbury will be ready to find a new home where he’ll never be alone again.
