In Tinton Falls, New Jersey, the owner of a one-year-old missing chihuahua named Daisy has been reunited with her lost pooch.
The nine-pound chihuahua had been missing since last Sunday after her owner, Beth Lane, had left the dog in the care of a pet sitter while attending the funeral of a relative. Daisy managed to slip away and headed to the Naval Weapons Base Earle nearby. She was spotted wiggling under a fence leading into the restricted area.
Navy personnel and local animal control officers were contacted. Traps were set with food and toys hoping to attract the dog’s attention. Lane was extremely worried that an animal predator in the area could capture and kill her beloved pet.
Fortunately, Daisy was found, and the two were reunited in a tearful reunion. The banner “Welcome Home Daisy” helped to celebrate the happy occasion. Many thanks went to the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and volunteer groups helping to conduct the widespread search for Daisy.
