In Harwood, Maryland, a family is devastated after discovering their young Malinois had been mistaken for a coyote and was shot and killed by a neighbor.

A video released with the shocking voice recordings has prompted an investigation. The dog’s owner Shannon Smith can not even comprehend how her dog could have been mistaken for a coyote.
Cellphone video voice recording:
no that’s not a dog. That’s not a dog. I don’t think so either. he’s not walking like a dog. Hey, there’s a coyote out there.
Wood had been searching for her dog, Maisie after the dog accidentally escaped from the family’s home on Easter Sunday. The family posted flyers all over the area and appealed for the safe return of Maisie. They even hired a drone to search for her in the heavily wooded area.

On Monday, Wood was sent a video which had been taken less than a mile from her home. She thought Maisie had been found, and soon their puppy would be reunited with the family. The person who originally recorded the video, however told her that Maisie had been scared off by a coyote, and so the search continued.
The next night Wood found out her dog had been shot and killed by a neighbor thinking she was a coyote.

In Maryland, a hunting license is required and a special furbearer permit is needed to hunt. Anne Arundel County Police are investigating the incident. Maisie’s owners want justice for their dog’s untimely death.

I have relatives who are hunters. They all say the same thing: KNOW YOUR TARGET BEFORE YOU FIRE!!! There is NO way to mistake a Malinois puppy for a coyote (wrong snout shape, wrong body build, wrong color)…….. this POS neighbor should lose their firearms before they hurt anyone else (wrong animal and/or a person)…….
If I had lost my puppy to this POS, I would have an animal right attorney on speed dial and sue the POS neighbor to oblivion………
