In Orange County, California, an alleged driver being pursued by police was arrested on Thursday night, although not before the alleged suspect in the chase kissed and nuzzled his dog that had been in the vehicle.
Video footage of the chase showed the suspects driving into a cul-de-sac in the city of Stanton being pursued by at least ten police cars. The driver parked in a driveway, where police deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office quickly surrounded the vehicle with their guns drawn. There was at least one K-9 unit at the scene.
After a brief standoff with officers, the passenger in the car exited and surrendered. And then moments later, a small dog was spotted sticking his head out of the passenger side window.
Deputies next ordered the driver to exit the car and to make sure the dog didn’t jump out, but before the suspect raised his arms to surrender, he leaned into the car to hug and nuzzle the dog.
The two people were taken into custody. As for the small puppy, deputies were able to leash him safely. He was turned over to Orange County Animal Control.
