At the McKamey Animal Center (MAC) in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a Good Samaritan found Kratos, battered and bloodied lying on the side of the road. Thankfully, they didn’t hesitate; they called MAC. The animal welfare officers rushed him to the clinic, where the dedicated veterinary team took over. His history was unknown, but could he have been a victim of dog fighting?

Kratos was covered in open sores, infected wounds, and his progress over the past day had been minimal. Sepsis loomed large, a terrifying threat to his already fragile state. As the team headed home, their fingers and paws were crossed, hoping Kratos, with that strong desire to survive, would make it through the night.

It was the next morning however,  the veterinary staff were relieved to see Kratos standing up; he had already eaten his dinner and took his medication eagerly.

And now just two days later, Kratos has made it perfectly clear, he is a survivor.

We are so thankful for the outpouring of support and well wishes that have been sent to Kratos over the weekend. We are thrilled to report that Kratos spent the weekend relaxing and recovering – exactly what he needed.

On Monday morning, Kratos greeted staff by standing, walked up to everyone with ease, wagging his adorable tail nonstop and giving kisses to the staff. There is no doubt he’s feeling better. He has received multiple medications to help heal his physical wounds, and of course lots of love and affection from the staff to heal his emotional wounds.

Kratos still has a long way to go, but rest assured he’s in the best hands at MAC.
