Kaley Cuoco, one of the stars of Big Bang Theory and actor Tom Pelphrey, are mourning the loss of their dog King who passed away after serious health issues.

It had been on an Instagram post Thursday that Cuoco, 38, posted the heartbreaking news stating King had been the first dog she had adopted with Pelphrey, 41, and the dog died just 18 months after the family adopted him.

there are no words to describe our dearest little Kingy. he was the first dog @tommypelphrey and i rescued together and honestly the most special. I saw him online shaking in a shelter in Atlanta while i was away in Germany, and asked the shelter to hold him because we just had to have him.

Kaley wrote that a few weeks later, she and Tom had been in Atlanta for work, and spent the entire day driving hours to pick King up from the rescue.

When the couple adopted King, they knew he was a senior and had medical issues, but what started out as a six-pound, skinny dog with no fur and shivered from fear, turned out to be a “chubby, hilarious, side plopping, eye kissing part of our family.”

King brought an immense amount of joy to the family, and even though it is surely an unknown when someone adopts a senior, especially with medical issues, how long they will live, everyday is a gift as was King to Kaley. Matilda and Tom.

i urge you to rescue your next best friend. He has left his paw print on our family’s hearts forever.

King had undergone surgery in July to remove a foxtail plant that was “days away from piercing his heart.” She then warned all dog owners to be careful when walking dogs outdoors.

As recently as last May, Kaley lost another one of her rescue dogs, Dumpy. The family’s other rescue dogs include Miss Opal, Ruby, Blueberry, Larry, Red and Shirley.

Rest in peace King. You were loved.
