At the Chuck Silcox Animal Care Care & Control Center, a six-month-old Great Pyrenees mix puppy lies in a shelter cage waiting to be helped. Last Friday, the puppy, Chili, had been hit by a car, and it was late Saturday that her owner surrendered her to the shelter. Fort Worth Animal Care and Control Placement Network is currently working to help Chili; they do not turn injured animals away.
At this time, Chili is non-weight bearing on her rear legs, but she still has a small reflex. She was also covered in urine and feces.
Animal Control officers, from the city where Chili was found, are expected to issue citations for animal cruelty against the previous owner. Volunteers say this puppy is very sweet and are hoping everyone who sees her photos and reads her tragic story will help by sharing her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts.
The shelter has given Chili a deadline until the end of Sunday.
It is possible the Animal Control from the city she came from will be issuing citations at a minimum or cruelty charges so contact with them will be needed.
Rescuers and animal lovers alike would really like to give her a chance because she is so happy and sweet.
