At the Great Plains SPCA, located in the Kansas City metro area, a sweet dog named Scooby needed help finding a home to call his own. Scooby suffers from severe shelter stress and has been deteriorating rapidly. He has panic attacks at the shelter and must be heavily medicated throughout the day.

Sadly, Scooby has been at the shelter for more than 300 days, and there has only been one meet and greet since then and no offers to foster.

On Friday, the Great Plains SPCA put out another plea on their Facebook page asking readers to share his story with friends, family and more social media contacts. They were running out of options, and Scooby’s mental health continued to decline each day he is at the shelter.

IF WE CANNOT FIND AN ADOPTER OR LONG-TERM FOSTER BY OCTOBER 9TH, THREE DAYS FROM NOW, WE WILL HAVE TO CONSIDER HUMANE EUTHANASIA.

Fortunately, the additional social media campaign seems to have paid off. Earlier Saturday afternoon, the Great Plains SPCA updated Scooby’s story.

just went into a Foster-To-adopt less than an hour ago. However since it’s the first day, we are waiting to see how things go. We will keep you all updated; thank you so much for your patience.
