A 75-pound pit bull mix was found badly injured walking down a street in Freeport, New York. The two-year-old friendly pup had been stabbed 17 times and miraculously survived. Law enforcement officers at the Nassau County SPCA have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) who were responsible for this heinous act of animal cruelty.

It had been a Good Samaritan who found the dog on November 27, 2023, now named Cornell. According to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly, the woman took the injured dog to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter where the dog was treated for his injuries.

The wounds on the dog had come from a “sharp object” however it is not known what the circumstances had been to have prompted such cruelty. Cornell survived and will be heading to his foster home.

At this time there are no suspects. Cornell was not microchipped nor was his wearing a collar.

i believe this was somebody’s pet. he’s too healthy and in too good shape to have been a street dog. We need the public’s help to find who did this to Cornell.
