At the SPCA of Wake County in Raleigh, North Carolina, a one-year-old Great Pyrenees mix named Ronald has had an awful streak of bad luck – 14 adoptions have fallen through and mostly have been due to him being too strong and just too big.
He came from a home with 2 other dogs his size, and they got along great! Although he may become a little humpy if he gets excited. We aren’t sure about cats — it’s hard to say without a known history
He was returned from one home because they had a toddler, and he was too big. He might do well with older kids who aren’t as easy to knock down with a big tail wag!
He has been in 3 homes since coming to the SPCA, and was returned from each. And he has had 11 other pending adoptions back out

This big boy weighs 63 pounds at this time, and he does have a large frame. His caretakers tell us Ronald knows his commands, is very careful taking treats and is “100% sweet.” Now and then this oversized puppy gets excited, and he stands up on his hind legs and places his paws on his person and becomes a mouthy. As long as the person has reasonably sturdy footing, there is no problem.
Bottom line – Ronald is a big baby, and he needs to be trained so he can become a good canine citizen.
