In Cleveland, Texas, less than 48-hours ago, a tiny dog named Spartan had been rescued by  ThisIsHouston. He had been found lying under a mobile home all day suffering from a deep, infected and bloody neck wound with flies buzzing around and biting him. Fortunately, a worker on the park grounds reached out to ThisIsHouston for help. The Good Samaritan had called other dog rescues, but no one else stepped up to help.

The Good Samaritan took photos and a video and reached out; when ThisIsHouston received the heartbreaking plea, they immediately responded. Had it not been for this person, Spartan would have never been rescued.

The dog was rushed to the rescue organization’s emergency veterinarian. Watch his video:

Sadly, some good deeds just aren’t enough. In a heartbreaking update this morning, the rescue posted the following:

Our little fighter is no longer fighting.

Spartan passed away peacefully on his own terms this morning. He gave no warnings or any obvious signs.

It’s always heartbreaking when we lose a soul, especially one who deserved so much more. Spartan will never get to know the good life, and that’s all we wanted for him. We truly believed we could get him there, but his body ultimately made the decision.

Maybe some dogs aren’t meant to be miracles, but we believe they should all get the chance to be one. We have no regrets for giving Spartan the best possible chance at making a full recovery, and we thank you all for believing in what we do.

Rest In Peace, Spartan

  1. I am very sorry that Spartan has passed away. I was hoping that he would be able to be cured and live with a loving furever family for the rest of his life.

Spartan, I know that you are in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends.
