Meet Stu; for a St. Bernard, he’s at least 80 pounds underweight. This poor dog was found in an abandoned house on Friday, and the people who found him brought him to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis. When he arrived, Stu weighed in at just 43 pounds.

he’s soaked/saturated in urine – we’re told he was found in a crate in the abandoned house, with nowhere to go but lay (sic) in his own filth for god knows how long…

Immediately, upon arriving at the rescue organization, Stu was placed on a warming pad. Initial tests indicated he was severely emaciated and dehydrated. Stu’s first meal consisted of a very small amount of food since his entire system was not used to any nourishment. Most surprising of all – despite this dog being nearly starved to death, he took his food from the staff very carefully and gently.

On Saturday morning, Stu was very happy to greet the new day and the people caring for him. Not only did he survive the night, but his greeting was full of tail wags.

He even stood up and walked to each of us for nuzzles. His bloodwork is all over the place, but his determination is incredible. it looks like we have a warrior boy on our hands.
