Hazelnut is a gorgeous two-year-old tricolor German shepherd who has been at the City of Tracy Animal Services in Tracy, California since June 2022.

The dog entered the shelter as a stray and has since worked with multiple trainers affiliated with the shelter and has shown great progress. She is quite a professional at “sit, shake and down” commands and has interacted well with the staff and volunteers through treats and taking her out on walks.

Hazelnut does prefer low key introductions and loves to explore on her own terms – quietly and carefully. She really needs to get out of the shelter and into a foster home environment where she can build up her self-confidence.

Her goofy personality and need for affection has won over staff members’ hearts, as she started to form trusting relationships.
