In Houston, Texas, a dog spotted suffering from the heat left alone on a second story apartment balcony with no shelter, water or food was rescued Monday evening with the help of the Houston SPCA.

According to the organization’s press release, authorities responded to a report about an unresponsive dog on a balcony in northeast Houston. When authorities arrived, the dog was not moving, however officers with the Harris County Constable Precinct 1 and the Ponderosa Fire Department realized the dog was still breathing and were able to administer emergency help.

We noticed the dog took a breath, so we moved quickly to get him off the balcony.

The dog’s owner had been out of town at the time of the rescue efforts. An investigation is ongoing, and it is possible the dog’s owner could be charged with animal neglect and cruelty. A hearing is scheduled to determine who will have custody of the dog.

Animal cruelty is a felony in Texas and punishable up to a maximum fine of $10,000 and two years in prison.

To report animal cruelty, call 713.869.SPCA.

The dog remains under veterinary care and is expected to make a complete recovery.

  1. Texas=suffering, corruption on all levels, theft of all constitutional rights, men rape and beat ALL females/animals in the home on a regular basis, while senators, house reps, cops, judges and governor ALL laugh at the abuse, then try to find yet another way to torture immigrants. I pray the wrath of all the Universal powers that be find this putrid nazi state with horrific flooding and hurricanes, one right after the other until this state is purified from all the evil that exists. Even the bible declares these things.

    • Maybe the Bible “declares these things”, but people should not pass judgement on others or wish for catastrophes to befall their fellow man. Catastrophes have a way of involving everyone and everything in their paths, even innocent animals and people. What you wish upon Texas and all its inhabitants is selfish and hateful, the opposite of what the Bible says for us to be.

  2. OMG: what a stupid and oblivious pet parent. This precious little treasure is lucky that others noticed his awful situation and he received the help he needed.

You can fix many things but you can’t fix stupid!!! I think the original pet parent should only have pet rocks from now on. This precious little treasure should be rehomed ASAP to more caring pet parents.
