In Knoxville, Tennessee, the Maryville Police Department has located K-9 Officer Eunice after the dog had an “altercation” with several coyotes and then went missing.

According to the Maryville Police Department’s Facebook page, Officer Eunice was found on Monday evening and is now being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The department thanked citizens in the area for keeping a lookout for Eunice.

It had been in the early morning of August 21 when the K-9’s handler let Eunice out of his police vehicle for a bathroom break. Suddenly the dog encountered a pack of coyotes and an “altercation ensued.” Eunice chased the coyotes, who then fled into a wooded area and were all soon out of sight. More fighting among the dog and the coyotes could be heard.

The dark brown and beige Belgian Malinois had been wearing two collars and was easily recognizable at a police dog. A reward was offered.

Great news – that Eunice was found and is expected to recover.
