In West Palm Beach, Florida, a 400-pound pet pig named Pork Chop has been removed from his home by Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control over concerns about the pig’s health and welfare.

Pork Chop’s owner Kelly Jacobson, who lives in Northwood Village, watched as animal control officers stated they removed the pig because it is severely obese, has a skin condition and needed his tusks and his nails filed down. Jacobson has been cited twice in the past year for similar issues.

Jacobson was evicted from her home for not paying rent for the last three months.

i don’t know what else to say right now. They took Pork chop away from me.

Kelly Jacobson to media news

According to Kelly, she has tried to put her pig on a diet, and has not been able to find anyone to trim his tusks or his nails.

There are no plans to return Pig Pen to his owner, and animal control officials will be “petitioning the court for custody.” Meanwhile, Pig Pen was to be in the temporary care of the Flying Pig Sanctuary in Bartow, Florida where he will be getting a diet of fruits, vegetables and grain to help him slim down. It’s questionable if the pig can even walk at this time.

It is hoped someone will want to adopt the pig and help him to live a healthier life.
