Floyd County, KY – A young dog, just a year of age, was left terrified and heartbroken after her family took her to a shelter in Kentucky and surrendered her. The reason the family was surrendering her? They told staff at the Floyd County Animal Shelter that she “played too rough” with their new puppy. The puppy they had purchased to breed with another dog in the home.
The shelter said:
We are unable to cat test, dog test or kid test because she is to heartbroken to raise her head. Over night her food bowl sat untouched. Her favorite toy sat on on the floor.
The shelter has stated that the dog, named Lucy, will not be made available for adoption until she is more comfortable. You can follow the Floyd County Animal Shelter on Facebook here.
