At the Royal Animal Refuge in Tyrone, Georgia, a three-year-old pup named Hardee is marking an entire year he has been at the shelter.

Hardee was rescued from the euthanasia list at Fayette County Animal Shelter where he had spent almost six months. Everyone seems to pass him by, and it’s hard for this sweet guy to stay optimistic. He has consistently watched his friends come and go, and just today one of the most recent residents found a home in one day.

I don’t mean to sound bitter, because I’m genuinely happy for my friend, but it leaves me wondering what they have that I don’t and nobody wants.

Hardee (if he could speak)

Hardee has been in playgroups with 50 dogs at one time and has done fine. He has posed, showcasing his most beautiful face and has tried his best to be very patient.

I can’t lie to all of you, it’s taken a toll on me. I am not wanting to eat my food anymore and I am no longer getting excited greeting you when you first see me. I have been to a vet, and nothing medical is going on. I am a young dog that waits for the day someone looks my way and thinks I am worthy of love. I want to be able to experience what a family and home feels like. Sadly, all that I really know is a kennel and the shelter life. I know that someone will read this and take a chance on me, right

Hardee (if he could speak)

Hardee is in need of a foster home or adopter! He is depressed and desperately needs a home environment to blossom. If interested in fostering this sweet boy, please email the organization’s foster coordinator at [email protected]. For any additional questions on Hardee, please email [email protected].

Pet Rescue Report hopes that telling this boy’s story and showing the world his photo, someone special will fall in love and give him the home he so desperately needs. Please share his plight with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
