Update 12/28/2022: According to Monteque’s Petfinder link, he has been adopted!!

Sebring, FL – A handsome five-year-old dog named Monteque was rescued from a horrible backyard breeder and taken in at the Humane Society of Highland County. But since his arrival, the adoptable dog has encountered a perplexing lack of interest.

On Tuesday, the shelter said:

Can’t understand why this golden-doodle is still with us? He is 5 yo, was horrifically treated by a back yard breeder. He is still under weight and frightened. His fur is shaved off due to severe matting.

According to the animal welfare agency, Monteque will not keep his sweater on and he is not doing well in the cold weather. The agency said:

He deserves better, it’s too cold outside for this poor boy, he won’t keep his sweater on. Needs a home ASAP.

Information from Monteque’s adoption profile:

He is heartworm negative. Call or text Alexandra 330-261-3934 if you can adopt. The adoption donation is $400 and includes neuter, UTD vaccines, and microchip.
