A senior dog, 11 years of age, has been surrendered to a busy California animal control agency after the death of her owner. The Chihuahua, named Pepper, was surrendered to the Carson Animal Services facility on February 9 by relatives of her deceased owner who did not think they were “responsible enough” to care for her.

Now the senior dog is trying to cope with the loss of everything that she once knew…her home, her bed, her toys, her people – all gone in an instant.

The Saving Carson Shelter Dogs Facebook page writes:

The Carson Animal Care Center is requesting rescue/adoption/networking assistance for A5461929 Pepper, our shy 11 year old female Chihuahua.
Pepper was surrendered yesterday 02/09/22, due to her previous owner passing away and the next of kin felt they were not responsible enough to provide care or medical attention for Pepper.
Pepper has an approximate 5 inch diameter growth at right inguinal abdomen. Our Care Center is hoping to receive rescue assistance for Pepper in order for her to receive further care for her needs.

Pepper is shy and timid at the animal shelter – undoubtedly upset by all that she has lost. Pepper has a large mass on her abdomen and she will need to receive veterinary care by whoever takes her in.

  1. I wish I lived closer I’m in VIRGINIA but if I was in CALIFORNIA she would be home with me! Two years ago My best friend of 16 years named Meadow was old and went into renal failure had to put her to sleep. Pepper eyes go right to her soul just like my Meadow. Is there anything I can do to help you find her a forever home?
