Reward offered – dead Cane Corso found in crate left by dumpster

A reward is being offered, and information is being sought after a dead Cane Corso was found in a wire crate that was left by a dumpster in Newport News, Virginia, on July 11. The Newport News Animal Welfare agency issued a release about the suspected animal cruelty case on July 25, recounting the details and asking for information from the public.

INFORMATION SOUGHT IN POTENTIAL ANIMAL CRUELTY CASE
PETA offering up to $7,000 reward
On Monday, July 11, 2022, at about 8:40 a.m., Newport News Animal Welfare Officers were called to the 2500 block of Marshall Avenue for a report of a deceased canine beside a trash dumpster. Officers believe the canine might have been pushed to the dumpster with the crate on top of a stroller.

According to the animal welfare agency, the dog is described as a one-to-two-year-old female Cane Corso and a necropsy on her body revealed that she most likely died from an act of animal cruelty.

Anyone who has information about this crime is asked to call the Newport News Animal Welfare Division at 757-933-8953.

Reward

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA, is offering a reward of up to $7,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
