A very naughty pup named Zoey doesn’t understand what all the hoopla was about, but she does grasp the concept that her mom was rather disappointed with her, and therefore had wound up in the proverbial doghouse. A viral TikTok video tells us why, and it happened on Sunday evening.

TikTok user @KimKruk shared the clip which has already garnered more than 1.1 million likes.

Check out the first video. It’s hard not to notice the chewed up bills strewn throughout the room.

The next day Kim posted a second video where she explained what happened. Of course, people had been asking her why she had so much cash in the house, but she explained that her husband had worked a side job in construction over the weekend, and when he returned home to take a quick shower and join Kim at her parents’ home, he placed his keys and the money on the dining room table.

She [Zoey] sometimes tries to look over our kitchen countertops to try to get to food, so we know not to leave food around or anything like that, because she’ll probably try to eat it but e never thought that she would try to eat paper or let alone money.

And so the couple had been out of the home for about two hours, and as Kim returned and walked in the door, she spotted a torn up $100 bill on the floor. Well, then it was time to sit down with Zoey to explain to the pup about ripping paper up, but obviously that was going to be moot on Sunday evening, because that was when Kim saw lots of tiny pieces that had once been a total of $2,700.

Of the original $2,700, Zoey had destroyed all but $300. The rest of the money had been ‘shred to pieces’ and Zoey probably ate some of the money as well.

The couple were in shock, and that’s when they made the video, and besides sending the clip to their family, decided to post it on TikTok.

But I am not upset at her. She’s a dog. She doesn’t understand what she did. And hopefully tomorrow we will be able to get some of the money back.

The next day, the couple had managed to tape some of the money back together and were able to go to the bank to replace it. The other bills which were missing some larger pieces and were too ripped up will have to be returned to the Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and if the remains fit the security features, the bills can be replaced at full value.

Personally, my dogs have chewed up my homework, contracts for real estate and even some very special photos of my son when he was a baby, but we’ve managed to keep him away from the money and the checkbook.
